A Bit About Us
It all started with an idea...
At Turkey & The Toad Café and Cakery, our story is one of nostalgia, community, and a shared love for the simple joy of a perfect cup of coffee with a sweet or savory pastry. Nestled in the heart of downtown Pewaukee, directly across from the scenic Lakefront Beach, our shop was born from the vision of owners Alexis and Nathan McCourt. After taking over the former Beach Bum Bakery in the fall of 2025, we embarked on a journey to transform the space into a whimsical and storybook-inspired destination.
Rooted in childhood nostalgia...
Our name itself is a nod to the heartwarming adventures of Frog and Toad (a childhood favorite) blended with a playful salute to Wisconsin’s unofficial mascot, the wild turkey. We have worked tirelessly to create an atmosphere that feels like a warm embrace, where the charm of a lakeside cottage meets the refined artistry of a modern cakery.

Our culture is built on the belief that a bakery should be more than just a place to buy sweets; it should be a cornerstone of the neighborhood. Behind the counter, our team is a tight-knit family of creative bakers, skilled decorators, and friendly baristas who share a passion for old-fashioned hospitality. We foster a workplace rooted in kindness, creativity, and a genuine excitement for the craft. Whether we are hand-stuffing our signature savory breakfast knots or perfecting the buttercream swirl on a custom cake, we do so with a spirit of collaboration and a commitment to making every guest’s day a little brighter. We do not just serve coffee and cake; we serve the moments that bring people together.

While we are constantly innovating with new savory bites and creative weekend donut flavors, we remain fiercely committed to local favorites like our Sunday Hot Ham and Rolls. Finally, we promise to be a consistent sanctuary for our neighbors.
